You might already know how to build a soft box, but what if you want a quicker and cheaper method or if you want to shoot big objects?
I came across this when I just wanted to take a quick picture of my new camera but didn’t want to spend my time building a soft box. I was thinking about William Ropp and his technique, and in 5 minutes, I setup everything for a lightpainting product shooting.
Only hours ago, when I was browsing tumblr, I came across the term “HDSLR” in one of photojojo’s posts. Yes, I’ve seen the DSLR filmmaking advertisement on Facebook countless times, but decided to ignore it since my desire for a DSLR is too big and my budget too small.
Anyway, I decided to google HDSLR and learned about the Canon 5D Mark II and 7D, the Nikon D5000 and D90. Minutes after, I was reaching for some tissues to wipe the drool that was all over my laptop. That, and entering Vimeo to treat myself with some more mental masturbation.
I didn’t need to go further than the frontpage to see this banner about “An HD video contest by Canon”.
Basically, it’s a contest for the owners of the aforementioned 5D and 7D — they’re challenged to go beyond a reference still photo that comes from the previous chapter winner, and build a short film based on that.
There are some really great “movies” there. Yeah, you can call them movies. See for yourselves. I’m just going to grab some more tissues.
